Mmm I don’t think you’re wrong! Although I love the look on her and I admire her bravery too! I think she’s still at a red carpet event so I like the glam hair. Now if she was making a target run I’m going to say it’s too much. But she says aging gracefully yet still a glam night out to me. The brows do feel a little sad but I respect her commitment! Great article CC!
Totally agree! I think there's a big difference between a little bit of what I would call "every day" makeup and what is normally seen on the Red Carpet and she could use a little jhush. And the hair did look kind of off. She's also still wearing jewelry, as you point out, and a gown. Frances McDormand has been doing no makeup and alt-dressing for years. I think the no makeup for Pamela started out as a great statement but now seems a little...empty. Still, it's an important conversation about expectations of women and I think good to think about.
I feel the “ no makeup “ look from Pamela Anderson was initially a “ brave” move.
But now it has become once again a “ thing” where she’s getting so much attention from Vogue, WWD, Paris Fashion Week coverage. So I begin to question : is she going it to once again be relevant and in the limelight or is she truly a makeup less gal, like myself?
And if the former, then why go all out with the hairdo?
I agree: the necklace did not go that dress justice.
Hi Diana, Your point is thought-provoking. At this stage in her life, she seems to be exploring different creative expressions with her looks. I am hopeful it's genuine and not merely a strategy to promote her skincare brand. But either way, it is refreshing to see a bare face! xx
I agree 100% with your post. I also don’t think she’s doing “no makeup” because she still has makeup on—it’s just not heavy handed. Very misleading, and irresponsible of the stylists and writers (not you) to an extent, towards women and young girls when they present a look so thoughtfully put-together as hers and call it “no makeup.”
I’m not sure how to feel about this. Personally, I don’t wear any makeup besides a little mascara a few times a year. At the same time, I am always making sure my hair looks nice. But I’m young, and feel like it’s easier for me to get away with because of that. I fear that when I’m older and still don’t wear makeup but focus on other things such as my hair, clothes, accessories, etc that I will be judged for that.
I think we all define a “look” differently, and I love that. Maybe this is Pamela Andersons new version of her look.
Or is this criticism because Pamela has an established history with makeup?
Hi Ivy, Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You're right; personal style is deeply individual and continues to evolve, which I applaud. My reaction centers around Pamela Anderson's choice to pair a makeup-free look with a very styled hairdo at the recent SAG Awards. As a makeup artist with many years in the industry (and having worked with her), I feel that if one opts for a high-glam hairstyle, adding a touch of makeup can enhance the overall look without making it the focal point. With her "no makeup look," I would have loved to have seen her with a glamorous ponytail or a sleeked-back style, paired with diamond studs for a chic twist. Nonetheless, I am rooting for her and anyone who fearlessly expresses their individuality, regardless of my personal preferences.
I agree Christy. I actually couldn't put my finger on it what looked off and the way that you explained it perfectly sums it up. Everything else was done up to the nines except for her face and it did feel off-balanced. She does look beautiful by the way even without any make up and with her hair done. But it does feel a little abundant so I appreciate you putting it into words what I could not particulate.
Thank you, Stephanie. Pamela Anderson is indeed beautiful. A subtle touch of makeup could have enhanced her overall look, or alternatively, adjusting the hairstyle to complement the no-makeup appearance would have achieved a harmonious balance.
I agree with you. Christy, and have been thinking the same for a while. Less makeup versus makeup less. I feel like there are times for less makeup instead of no makeup. I’ve often thought that she looks unfinished. She used to wear so much makeup, that even just a little would still make the point.
Yes, and realizing that as we age, we can look a bit more tired than we actually are. As a makeup artist, I would have liked to have seen just a little makeup paired with this jewelry and hair. :)

These are just my scattered thoughts though haha

I agree so much about the hair! And I love the "no makeup" look but would love a slight finish to really enhance your features.
Agree! Just a wee bit. :)
