Pamela Anderson’s No-Makeup Era: A Bold Statement or a Missed Opportunity?
She ditched makeup on the red carpet—but kept the full glam hair. Does this contradiction hold us back?
Okay, here we go. I know this might be controversial, but I love the bravery Pamela Anderson has shown in committing to wearing no makeup at public events. Truly. It’s refreshing, it’s powerful, and it’s a much-needed shift in an industry that often demands perfection at all costs.
However—and this is where I pause—the imbalance of a fully styled, high-glam hairdo with an otherwise bare face makes the look feel… incomplete. Something about it just feels off. A sleek or voluminous ponytail? A perfect, effortless blowout? That would feel more cohesive. But this? It leaves me wondering: Why commit fully to no makeup and not extend that ethos to the hair? Why not embrace a more undone, natural style all the way through?
It’s frustrating because this choice, instead of pushing the movement forward, risks setting it two steps back. The message gets muddled. It’s as if we’re still clinging to some form of "done-ness," just in a different way.
And if we’re going all in on this conversation—let’s talk about the in-between. You can still honor the essence of the no-makeup look while adding just a touch of brightness. A curled lash, a softly filled-in brow, and a sheer pop of color on the cheeks and lips—these aren’t about covering up; they’re about balance. Some days, especially if you’re wearing a fully coiffed hairdo, that little extra polish can keep the look feeling intentional rather than unfinished.
Because if we're challenging beauty standards, let's challenge them all the way.

P.S. I chose not to address the jewelry… but if you’re asking—ditch it! Also, I know you’ve got thoughts, so let me have it in the comments.
Mmm I don’t think you’re wrong! Although I love the look on her and I admire her bravery too! I think she’s still at a red carpet event so I like the glam hair. Now if she was making a target run I’m going to say it’s too much. But she says aging gracefully yet still a glam night out to me. The brows do feel a little sad but I respect her commitment! Great article CC!
Totally agree! I think there's a big difference between a little bit of what I would call "every day" makeup and what is normally seen on the Red Carpet and she could use a little jhush. And the hair did look kind of off. She's also still wearing jewelry, as you point out, and a gown. Frances McDormand has been doing no makeup and alt-dressing for years. I think the no makeup for Pamela started out as a great statement but now seems a little...empty. Still, it's an important conversation about expectations of women and I think good to think about.
