In 2008, when I began transitioning my makeup kit to cleaner products (which by the way wasn't even referenced this way back then) and launched my blog (yes, I’m dating myself), I had the incredible opportunity to speak on a panel with Ken Cook, cofounder of the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and the Skin Deep Database. I must admit, I had never been so scared, as at the time, I was just a 'makeup artist' with no science background but with the sole desire to make a difference in the beauty industry. Skin Deep database by Environmental Working Group was where I began my journey into understanding the toxicity of certain ingredients, and for this, I will always be grateful.
Fast forward to 2011, when I joined forces with Gregg Renfrew to help create Beautycounter, I was able to focus on what I did best: innovating in formula and performance.
